Reforge Charleston is a Makerspace that opened its doors almost one year ago…inside of Citadel Mall!

Reforge Charleston is an education based non-profit makerspace based in Charleston, SC. We provide a facility for people to utilize tools and equipment, teach classes for the general public and hold events for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) awareness.

What is a Makerspace?

A Makerspace is a friendly place filled with neat technologies where members can explore state-of–the-art machinery, develop their technical and hands-on skills and experience the incredible FUN of turning their own dreams into reality. Makerspaces enable increased personal creativity, collaboration, and “making” new things…for you, your family…or even the world!

Reforge Charleston Makerspace is a combination of a high-tech learning center and a community workshop. There is 3-D printing, laser etching, Woodworking, Computer Aided Machining, Electronics, Computing, Metalworking, Welding, and more. But that’s just Reforge the PLACE. What makes Reforge special is its diverse COMMUNITY of volunteers and members who have a common interest in learning, making and sharing their knowledge with others.

But WHY is Reforge in the Mall? It’s because we want to make science, technology, and MAKING things more visible, approachable and FUN for our local community.

Reforge Charleston is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization run by and ALL- volunteer board. There are no paid employees. Out monthly membership rates are low, and there are no membership[ contracts. We welcome a diverse community of learners, of all ages, backgrounds and interests. Spreading the appreciation and FUN of science and technology.
