Flower Fabric Dyeing Workshop at Roadside Blooms
Saturday September 12th at Roadside Collective (located inside of the Citadel Mall – near Collectors Corner) from 12:00PM- 2:00PM
Petal to Pigment: A Botanical Dye Workshop
with Melody Webb of Lonely Pine Preservation + Roadside Blooms
Join us for a hands-on, slow-made experience where flowers become something entirely new. In this special collaboration, Melody Webb of Lonely Pine Flower Preservation will guide you through the art of botanical dyeing using Roadside Blooms’ American-grown, seasonal flowers.
Guests will learn the fundamentals of natural fiber dyeing (from fabric selection to color extraction) transforming petals, stems, and blooms into rich, organic pigments.
Each participant should bring a couple personal piece of natural fabric (cotton, linen, bamboo viscose, or silk—no larger than a t-shirt) to dye and take home the very same day.
She will also have a few items for purchase to dye as well in case you forget or want to do more!
As part of the experience, you’ll also practice your technique by dyeing cotton onesies that will be donated to patients at Shawn Jenkins MUSC Children’s Hospital—making this workshop as meaningful as it is creative. This cause is especially close to Melody’s heart as she recently welcomed her second child, adding an extra layer of intention and care to the day.
Expect a thoughtful, tactile afternoon filled with color, community, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world where every piece you create is truly one of one.
